Review of Marvel ATLAS: GODMARKED Arc
An ancient monstrous force has summoned Venus, the enchanting siren, to the shimmering waters of San Francisco Bay. Here, she faces a colossal, octopus-like creature known as Phorcys — an entity born of myth and might. This formidable being, with its many tentacles and deep, fathomless eyes, holds an astonishing secret: it crafted the sirens in the image of the beguiling goddess Aphrodite herself.
Now, Phorcys demands Venus, a siren in her own right, to return and serve as the loyal emissary of her master and creator. With a voice that can mesmerize even the most hardened of hearts, Venus must sing — her haunting melodies drawing in unsuspecting souls from the shore. As her song weaves through the air like an ethereal spell, the crowd gathers, entranced and unaware of the lurking peril.
Phorcys, hungry for this unsuspecting audience, finds it all too easy to ensnare them in his insidious embrace. But not all is lost as a band of determined agents, led by the ever-resourceful Jimmy Woo, recognizes the looming threat and calls out to Venus. He reminds her that she is not just a myth. She has now become a true hero — flesh and blood, with the power to change destiny.
As tensions rise and the veil between Venus and monster begins to lift, the depths of Phorcys are revealed, and the stakes soar. What will Venus choose: to remain a puppet of ancient desire or to break free and reclaim her fate against an overpowering deity?
In a stunning turn of events, the Agents of Atlas emerge victorious, but this battle is merely the prologue to a grander saga awaiting Venus in a captivating tapestry woven from myth and valor.

In a daring maneuver, Venus pretends to be the enchanting Aphrodite, seeking to infiltrate the sacred realm of Olympus. Yet, lurking within the shadows, the vigilant guardians of the tunnel sense an unsettling presence. Among them stands a towering cyclops, his single eye piercing through the darkness with uncanny perception.
At his side, an army of skeleton warriors clatters ominously, their bony frames silhouetted against the flickering torchlight, as a fearsome lion roams restlessly among them, ready to pounce at a moment’s notice.
Tension thickens in the air, for the deception of Venus may not go unchallenged in the presence of such formidable protectors. Will her cunning be enough to grant her passage, or will the vigilant guardians expose her ruse and thwart her ambitions?
Aphrodite seethes with jealousy, her heart aflame at the audacity of a mere mortal woman, Venus, who dares to embody her beauty and grace. The goddess of love and desire, feeling the sting of rivalry, calls for a confrontation — a dramatic showdown that will reverberate through the realms of gods and mortals alike.

GODMARKED Comic: Review Rating
The Godmarked Arc serves as the captivating opening storyline in the Marvel ATLAS graphic novel, Return of the Three Dimensional Man. This intriguing arc compiles material from the Incredible Hercules series, specifically issues #138 through #141, while the prologue draws readers into the action with content from Assault on New Olympus.
I would give Marvel ATLAS: GODMARKED a decent 6 out of 10. The storyline is packed with unexpected twists that keep you on your toes, particularly the unexpected moment when Aphrodite shares a kiss with Venus!
As someone who isn’t deeply familiar with the Agents of ATLAS, many of the characters were new to me, and I found their dynamics quite refreshing. I suspect that with a deeper dive into more comics from this heroic ensemble, my appreciation for the narrative would only grow.
One aspect of the comic that didn’t quite resonate with me was the dialogue attributed to the creature Phorcys. I’m pretty sure that’s the monster’s name, but I’m not entirely certain.
Overall, “GODMARKED” and the other “Agents of ATLAS” comics are definitely worth exploring for fans of Greek mythology. You never know which gods and goddesses might grace the pages. As you can imagine, there’s a treasure trove of stories just waiting to be discovered!
