It’s a kid-friendly, lively version of the story about the brave hero Theseus and the mysterious beast called the Minotaur. Part of a colorful mythology graphic series, this book is super fun, packed with adventure, and really brings ancient Greece to life in a way that’s perfect for kids.

What I love most is how it takes a pretty intense myth and turns it into a lively, easy-to-follow story that kids can enjoy. The bright, engaging illustrations help bring the characters and monsters to life, while the simple, fun writing makes the story accessible for young readers. It’s a perfect way to introduce kids to Greek legends without overwhelming them with too many details.

Theseus and the Minotaur: A Modern Graphic Greek Myth Review

Theseus and the Minotaur kicks off with Theseus stumbling upon a mysterious sword and sandals tucked away under a giant rock — and of course, it’s all done in a playful, exciting way. As soon as he finds them, he’s racing off to Athens to claim what’s rightfully his. Because, surprise! He’s actually a prince! The adventure begins right from the start, full of energy and a sense of discovery that pulls you right into the story.

Theseus and the Minotaur Chapter 1

On his way to Athens, our brave hero bumps into a sneaky band of bandits, ready to thwart anyone daring to pass! But what’s a daring adventurer to do? Outwit them, of course! And just watch — he pulls off the cleverest tricks of all, proving he’s got the brains to beat them at their own game!

Alright, buckle up for a wild myth adventure! So, Theseus is headed to Crete for the ultimate showdown with the Minotaur—part man, part bull, all beast! But before the epic battle, let’s rewind and see how it all started. Picture this: King Minos, the big boss of Crete, totally disobeys Poseidon, the mighty god of the sea. Because of that slip-up, chaos ensues, and the monstrous Minotaur is born — half man, half bull, and all nightmare!

To keep this beast from running amok, the clever inventor Daedalus creates the legendary Labyrinth — a crazy maze so confusing that even the Minotaur can’t escape it.

Now that everything’s all set, Theseus is zooming off to Crete to dive into the legendary maze and take on the beast! King Minos is chilling on the shore, excited to welcome the kids, while the mighty Minotaur is just waiting for some brave explorers. This is a super fun, kid-friendly graphic book filled with excitement and adventure — way more amusing than scary!

Guess what? Theseus meets Ari, the king’s daughter, who is a smart and witty princess! She wants to help him survive the labyrinth and the Minotaur, but she’s only going to help if he promises to marry her.

Theseus finally finds himself inside the tricky, twisty labyrinth where the Minotaur is hiding. The maze is super cool and totally true to the classic Greek myth about Theseus and the Minotaur — but don’t worry, it’s all fun and kid-friendly! No scary stuff here, just exciting twists and turns, making it the perfect story for young readers!

Theseus and the Minotaur: Mythology Graphics

I highly recommend checking out Theseus and the Minotaur: A Modern Graphic Greek Myth — it’s a pretty cool little book for kids. It’s part of the Mythology Graphics series, which I’ve also enjoyed with Mythology Graphics: Jason and the Argonauts.

Overall, I’d give this Theseus and the Minotaur graphic book a 7 out of 10 — just like the Jason one. One of the disappointing things about this book is that I think the Minotaur scenes could’ve been a little scarier and more monster-like. It would’ve been super cool if they made the monster parts even more fun and spooky. Also, the Minotaur didn’t talk at all in the story, and I think it would’ve been awesome if it had said a few funny or scary lines. But hey, you can’t have everything, right? Still, it’s a pretty fun read!
