Best Beaches in Bali: Uluwatu Beaches
The purpose of this post is to convince you of the need to visit Uluwatu in the first place, by showing you where to find some of the best beaches in Bali. Uluwatu has to be the ultimate beach destination in Bali on the mainland, so I have placed these beaches right at the top of this post of 21 Best Bali Beaches: Nicest, Prettiest to Most Beautiful.
1. Bingin Beach
Perched on the rugged coastline of Pecatu Village, near the iconic Uluwatu in Bali’s south, you’ll discover Bingin Beach. It is a breathtaking cliffside haven that unfolds like a treasure trove of natural beauty.
For surfers, this is a paradise, with formidable waves that have earned it a reputation as one of Bali’s best surf spots. Intermediate to experienced surfers will find their perfect ride here, and the beach has even hosted its fair share of surf competitions.
But don’t worry, non-surfers – there’s still plenty to love about Bingin Beach! The views of the Indian Ocean are simply stunning, and the pristine white sand is an invitation to take a leisurely stroll along the shoreline.
However, getting to Bingin Beach can be a bit of an adventure. Be prepared to navigate a series of small steps that lead you down to the beach. But it’s worth the effort. The best time to visit Bingin Beach is during low tide, when you can walk directly across the shore to neighboring Dreamland and Padang Padang beaches.
For those who want to soak up the sun on the shore or take a dip in the ocean, try and avoid the high tide – when the waves are often at their largest. If you’re looking for a beach that’s a little more laid-back, Bingin Beach is definitely worth adding to your Bali itinerary.
I stayed at Impossible Cliff House when I stayed in Uluwatu and it was a magic choice. But trust me, getting there was a challenge, because you do have to navigate down a long series of stairs. Luckily, you can pay a porter to carry your luggage down and back up again when you leave.
Beach Tip: Walk from one Bingin Beach to Dreamland Beach. You will love it.
Bali Beach Rating: To be honest, I think Bingin Beach is one of the nicest beaches in Bali. It has everything, great ocean views, soft sand, seafood restaurants on the sand in the evening, and it is incredibly relaxing with not too many people around. Bingin Beach looks like an awesome place to go surfing as well and many do. They even have surf competitions here, so that would be cool to see. At this stage, Bingin Beach could easily be the nicest beach in Bali. While Bingin Beach is beautiful, there are other beaches in Bali that could be nicer. Stay tuned to see the eventual winner of the nicest beach in Bali at the end of this post.
Best Beach Attractions: Nice walking distance to Dreamland Beach. You can also walk to Padang Padang Beach in the opposite direction. Good eating at the seafood restaurants on Bingin Beach in the evening. Great accomodation at Bingin Beach is available, including staying at the Impossible Cliff House.
2. Padang Padang Beach: Bali Paradise Beach
If you’re looking for a more secluded spot, Padang Padang Beach is a tranquil oasis tucked away in a secluded cove, with golden sand and crystal-clear waters perfect for swimming or snorkeling. And as you explore the beach, keep an eye out for the rare green turtles that nest here.
Discover Padang Padang Beach: Bali’s Hidden Gem
Located in the picturesque village of Pecatu on the southwest coast of the Bukit Peninsula, Padang Padang Beach is one of Bali’s most iconic surf spots. Made famous by the 2010 film “Eat, Pray, Love,” this stunning beach has been attracting visitors from around the world. Getting to the beach is quick and easy. You just need to walk down a short series of steps.
What makes Padang Padang unforgettable?
If you’re looking for a more secluded spot, Padang Padang Beach is a tranquil oasis tucked away in a secluded cove, with golden sand and crystal-clear waters perfect for swimming or snorkeling.
Padang Padang Beach stands out with its breathtaking views of towering cliffs, crystal-clear waters, and a lively atmosphere filled with surfers. If you are there at the right time of year, you may even get to see an international surfing event, like the Rip Curl surf competition.
The beautiful beach has calm and clear waters make it one of the best beaches in Bali for swimming, snorkeling, and simply enjoying the sun and sea.
Beach Tip: Keep your eyes on your valuables as monkeys have been known to take things from unsuspecting tourists.
Bali Beach Rating: Padang Padang Beach is an awesome beach for swimming and relaxing. It is cosy and has a fantastic feel about it. If you could only visit one beach in Uluwatu, this is the one I would recommend visiting. Padang Padang is one of the most beautiful beaches in Bali; no wonder they chose to film the movie “Eat, Pray, Love” there.
Best Beach Attractions: One of the most memorable beaches I visited was Padang Padang Beach in Bali, with its calm and peaceful vibe and superb sea. Most beach lovers could easily spend the whole afternoon or day at this wonderful beach.
3. Dreamland Beach
Dreamland Beach is a stunning destination that boasts breathtaking scenery. This picturesque beach is renowned for its turquoise waters, soft white sand, and consistent waves, making it a haven for surfers of all levels.
If you aren’t a surfer, don’t worry, because this is one of the best beaches in Uluwatu to soak up the sun. You can take a walk along the beach and discover a cave-like tunnel where you can rest while taking in the amazing views.
However, there’s no need to venture further than the main beach area where the umbrellas are located. Additionally, they have a good cafe here, making it a great beach to spend some quality time at.
In my opinion, Dreamland Beach has to be the best beaches in Bali to go for a walk on. One reason for this is the incredible sand. With a name like Dreamland Beach, I found myself in awe of the place, especially with the powerful waves crashing at the shore. While it looks relatively peaceful in these pictures, the waves were quite strong. I would have loved to go for a swim here, but I couldn’t risk it. It would have been a huge tragedy if I drowned at Dreamland.
Although I didn’t end up going for a swim at this beach, I loved Dreamland Beach.
4. Suluban Beach – Blue Point Beach (Uluwatu Beach)
The views are incredible when you make your way to Suluban Beach (aka Blue Point Beach, or Suluban Uluwatu Beach). As you can see, this beach has numerous names. It can also be called Uluwatu Beach. So if you ask a taxii to take you to Uluwatu Beach, you will most likely end up here. It’s probably due to the fact that Suluban Beach and Uluwatu Beach are very close together. I have included a map further down.
Suluban Beach is a unique and fascinating destination that requires a bit of effort to reach. You’ll need to walk down some stairs and through a cavern, but the reward is worth it. The beach features tunnel-like caves to explore, making it a truly unforgettable experience.
One of the best things about Suluban Beach is the sheltered lagoon swimming area, which is perfect for a refreshing dip at low tide.
Here is a Suluban Uluwatu map to give you some sense of the beaches in the area. As you can see, both Suluban Beach and Uluwatu Beach are within 50-100 m of each other. To enter Uluwatu Beach, you go through a rock archway on the right side. You’ll find that side of the beach very rocky, but it is still good for a walk.
Suluban Beach is a must-see beach when visiting the Uluwatu region in Bali. On a beautiful day, Suluban Beach has to be one of the most beautiful beaches in Bali, with its stunning blue waters and unique natural formations.
