OFFICE GODS: Review

The storyline navigates the complexities of both divine and human relationships, exploring themes of power dynamics, ambition, and love in a fast-paced corporate environment. The characters are well-developed, with each god and demigod bringing their own quirks and struggles to the table, making them relatable despite their celestial origins.

It began three centuries ago, when a monumental event changed the course of human history. The Greek Gods unveiled themselves to humanity, stepping down from the lofty peaks of Mount Olympus to walk among mortals.

The world adapted, and so did the Gods, who established an extraordinary corporation named “Olympus” — a breathtaking 1000-story skyscraper soaring toward the heavens. This iconic structure became more than just an office building, it transformed into a magnificent hub where deities and humans coexisted, a place where divine influence intertwined with human ambition.

At Olympus, prestige took on a new dimension. It wasn’t merely a company — it was the epicenter of power, wealth, and influence in the world. Here, the gods orchestrated the affairs of the universe, guiding everything from politics to art.

The building itself was an awe-inspiring site. As you would expect, mortals offered tributes and sought blessings, praying for fortune, love, or wisdom from their divine peers.

High-status humans, adorned in the finest attire, gathered in lavish conference rooms to debate global matters with godly wisdom. This mingling of realms sparked innovation like never before — humans and gods working side by side, pushing the boundaries of mortal potential.

Amidst this glittering backdrop, a young and ambitious woman named Iris found herself stepping into the hallowed halls of Olympus — a dream she had persevered through after facing a grueling year of rejection from various employers.

With her fiery spirit and radiant beauty, it seemed impossible that just a year prior, she was an overlooked talent. Yet somehow, here she was, drawn into this world of divine power and prestige. Her heart raced, not only from the excitement of being amongst the gods but also from an inexplicable sense that her luck was about to change.

On her first day there, she saw two striking figures: Orion and Dante. Eager to shake off the nerves of her new role, Iris felt a rush of recognition. They were familiar faces from the lively local bar she often frequented — a place where laughter flowed as freely as the drinks.

Orion, with his captivating charm, had been the object of her flirtation that fateful night, while Dante, sharp and enigmatic, had intrigued her from a distance. The memory of her bold attempt to seduce Orion washed over her like a tidal wave of embarrassment, turning her cheeks red as their eyes met.

She felt a spark — a sense that her role in this grand design was only just beginning. She even meets another friend of hers working at Olympus.

OFFICE GODS: Rating

I rate the graphic novel “Office Gods” a 6.5 out of 10. If I were a girl, I’d probably give it a 7. It has a distinctive charm that I believe would resonate much better with teenage girls, drawing them into its engaging blend of humor, romance, and intrigue.

What’s more, I am totally convinced that “Office Gods” has immense potential to make the leap to the screen as an exciting TV show or mini-series. The premise is both simple and captivating: all that’s needed is a cast of charismatic, great-looking actors and a quintessential office setting. Naturally, that backdrop should come with a divine flair to truly encapsulate the essence of the Gods. With that foundation, the creative possibilities are virtually limitless!

One of my top suggestions for the “Office Gods” TV series would be to diversify the characters, particularly when it comes to their appearances. In the graphic novel, I noticed that several male characters bore striking similarities in their looks. This made it somewhat difficult to differentiate between them and fully appreciate their unique personalities. By giving each character a distinctive visual style, the show could enhance its storytelling and create a richer, more engaging experience for viewers, allowing audiences to easily recognize and connect with each character as they navigate the comedic chaos of office life.

In conclusion, Office Gods (240 pages) is an interesting graphic novel to read, reminiscent of the very popular Lore Olympus series, despite both graphic novels having their own distinct illustration styles and narratives. If you revel in the reimagining of Greek myths with a modern twist, this graphic novel is an essential addition to your reading list. Don’t miss the opportunity to immerse yourself in its romance-filled office world!

Another graphic novel some of you may find interesting is Ares & Aphrodite: Love Wars, especially if you plan on being a lawyer. But here’s the catch. The title is a bit misleading!
