Superman VS Alexander the Great: Comic Review

Superman Comic 387 Alexander the Great Conqueror from the Past

Man, I never imagined I’d see Superman going up against Alexander the Great, but then I came across a couple of Superman comics — Superman Vol. 1 #387 and Superman Action Comics #547 — and let me tell you, it’s a blast!

Sure, it may not be Alexander the Great himself, but this guy believes he’s his reincarnation. Calls himself Planeteer! And his goal? World domination, obviously. He’s back to reclaim what he thinks is his rightful heritage. To do that, he’s gotta put Superman in his place — basically make him bow before his master.

The story starts with Superman cornered on the Sphinx in Egypt, hooked up to some insane power beam. It’s straight-up epic.

Planeteer, the crazy guy who’s convinced he’s Alexander the Great’s reincarnation, has a plan to take over the world — and it’s all about sheer force of will. His first move? Snagging eight world leaders and locking them up in some crazy, high-tech force field. The guy’s got ambition.

Planeteer Alexander the Great Reincarnation Revelation

Superman tries to bust the guys out of the force field cage, but no luck — he can’t break through. That’s when the fight kicks off between Superman and Planeteer. Superman pleads with him to see reason and let the world leaders go, but Planeteer has his own mission to complete. He’s not gonna be stopped, not even by the gods of Olympus. Soon enough, Superman ends up trapped too.

Planeteer then turns to the TV cameras, telling the world he’ll rule with fairness and justice — claiming he’s cleared out all the pretenders to his throne. Superman’s left stuck, not sure what to do until he figures out what kind of force field the guy’s using.

The guy who thinks he’s Alexander the Great then snatches up the world leaders and whisks them away to some mysterious new place. The story’s far from over, and before long, Superman’s even dealing with strange sea creatures in uncharted waters. As the battle for the future heats up, the excitement keeps rising.

SUPERMAN Action Comic #547: Alexander the Great

The Superman versus Alexander the Great comic story begins with Superman Vol. 1 #387 and concludes with Superman Action Comics #547, which you can see below.

Superman Action Comics 547 Planeteer Alexander the Great

The Planeteer, aka the reincarnation of Alexander the Great, still has the world leaders trapped inside his force field cage, and Superman is racing against time to save them.

The Reincarnation of Alexander the Great

Superman Action Comics #547 features Planeteer’s parents explaining how their son came to believe that he is the reincarnation of Alexander the Great. This delusion was fueled by his childhood obsession with the legendary conqueror from the ancient world!

Superman ends up searching the world for the trapped world leaders. He spots a few of them inside the Krakatoa volcano, enclosed within that strange force field cage.

Superman VS Planeteer: Alexander the Great Comic Review

Superman VS Alexander the Great (Planeteer) is a memorable and unique Superman comic double feature series that combines superhero themes with ancient history in a cool way. The idea of Alexander the Great coming back as a reincarnation is pretty wild and keeps you guessing. Is it really him, or just some crazy fantasy from a delusional guy? That mystery makes the story more interesting because you’re never quite sure what’s real and what’s not, kind of like a good mind-bending ride.

The Planeteer: Alexander the Great comic figure made me think of Maxie Zeus from Batman comics, who believes he’s Zeus himself. It’s about that crazy idea of someone so obsessed with greatness and myth that they blur the lines between fact and fiction. Whether Alexander the Great is really back or just some crazy obsession, he definitely leaves a memorable impression.

If you’re into fun mixes of superhero action and ancient history, these two Superman comics are a pretty good choice. It’s an adventurous story that make you wonder about legends and how they stick around, whether they’re real or just made up.

I would rate Superman Vol. 1 #387 and Superman Action Comics #547 a solid 7 out of 10. The concept was engaging and had great potential, but I feel the story could have benefited from more scenes set in Greece. Instead of the scenes in Krakatoa, Indonesia, imagine if some key moments took place on Mount Olympus, in Delphi, or even on the picturesque island of Santorini. Incorporating more Greek locales would have added a richer, more compelling layer to the story, making the comic even more memorable and classic.

If you’re a fan of Superman, you might also want to check out Superman: The Odyssey. However, I found the Superman vs. Alexander the Great duel to be much more captivating and memorable — after all, who could forget a comic where Alexander the Great goes head-to-head with Superman?

I’ve also got some epic advice if you’re into Alexander the Great: you’ve seriously gotta check out this amazing Alexander the Great: Anime Series! It’s incredible and totally worth your time!
