The Three Stooges Meet Hercules is a funny movie I highly recommend watching at least once. The other reason to watch it is if you haven’t seen the film within the last twelve years. The reason — for the laughs!

As a kid, I recall liking this funny three stooges movie. So when I saw the film again recently, I wondered how much of the storyline I’d be able to remember.
Also, after watching The Three Stooges Meet Hercules through adult eyes, I was curious to know whether my opinion of the movie would change. Maybe, I’d dislike the film after seeing it again. Who could tell?
Surprisingly, watching the film again was like seeing it for the first time. For instance, the funny-looking Siamese cyclops monster was something I had almost totally forgotten about. I never expected to see a cyclops in the film.
I also didn’t expect to see so many funny scenes in the movie.
The only thing about this three-stooges movie that stuck in my mind from when I was a kid was remembering the three stooges rowing inside the galley of an ancient Grecian ship and not much more than that.
Now that I’ve seen the movie again and reflected on it, I’m a big fan of this entertaining Greek myth-based film. If you love comedies, it has some great funny gags in it. I’m sure you will have a good giggle at some point.
Before you consider watching the film, let’s ease into it by doing a bit of a movie review of The Three Stooges Meet Hercules (1962).
What is the movie The Three Stooges Meet Hercules about?
The film essentially starts when the three stooges travel through time in a crazy-looking time machine to the Hellenic age of Hercules.
They land in an ancient place where war is raging, and as soon as they do, they’re mistaken as being gods of Olympus.
As a result of their arrival, they inadvertently cause victory in the battle to go to the wrong king.
The evil king Odius then invites the three stooges to his palace for a feast to show gratitude. However, another motive of his is to get closer to the attractive woman who also happened to travel through time with the three stooges.
In the meantime, Ulysses, foe to King Odius, is captured. It doesn’t take long for the three stooges to realize they’ve made a significant blunder to the course of history after that.
You will see a few funny scenes at the feast. This one stands out with Hercules flexing his muscle around the neck of one of the three stooges after some wine gets spilled on him.
Believe it or not, Hercules is initially one of the bad guys in this film.
Funny Scenes in this Three Stooges film
When Ulysses is captured, he’s imprisoned by King Odius in a dungeon cell.
The three stooges then do their best to try and set him free. The film starts getting very funny from here.
Probably the most laughable film scene in the movie is with the beautiful ladies in the Grecian bath.
The three stooges get mistaken for massage staff and beauty attendants.
I’m sure you will find it hilarious when Larry gets asked to paint a woman’s toenails but instead paints her feet!
Another memorable film scene of the three stooges is inside a ship’s galley when they are forced to row painfully hard as punishment. It has to be the main memory I had when watching the movie as a kid.
The guy on the left is a friend of the three stooges who also traveled through time with them.
He builds enormous muscle due to his efforts, which down the track, makes him the equal of Hercules. I sort of remember this as a kid.
Here you can see one head of the Siamese cyclops. Not sure how I ever forgot I saw this crazy-looking cyclops monster in The Three Stooges Meet Hercules.
Chariot Race in The Three Stooges Meet Hercules
Watching a funny chariot race in The Three Stooges Meet Hercules came out of nowhere.
The incredible thing about seeing it in this three stooges movie is that the chariot race has the same idea behind it as what I told you about in the chariot race shown in the secret meaning of the movie Grease.
The villain in this film also uses metal can opener wheels that cuts into his opponent’s chariot wheels.
I only know of three movies that have this type of wheel-cutter scene. The films I’m talking about are Ben Hur, Grease, and, funnily enough, The Three Stooges Meet Hercules.
As soon as you see Moe throw the first pie from the chariot near the film’s end, you know you’ve just witnessed one of the most unique ancient comedies of all time.

The other option is to forward it to the best scenes in the film if you don’t want to watch the entire full movie.
At the very least, make sure you don’t miss watching the funny Grecian bath scene at the 35-minute mark. It’s a hilarious film scene.
Peplum Movies (Sword and Sandal Film)
This Hercules film is very different from the peplum sword and sandal movies that were popular in the late 1950s and early 1960s. How could it not be?
The three stooges in a film with a top Greek mythology figure is something you would never expect to see. But that’s one more thing that makes watching it very funny and entertaining.
The Three Stooges are hilarious guys, and in my opinion, this feature film of theirs is an absolute classic!
