In August 2026, I came across an intriguing news story on The Greek Herald about a Greek artist’s first mural in Australia, located in Adelaide, the capital of South Australia. The artist behind these striking works is Costas Louzis, known by his artistic name “Skitsofrenis” — the signature seen next to his artworks.
Filled with curiosity, I had to see the Greek artist’s murals for myself. Interestingly, it turns out Costas Louzis traveled all the way from Kalamata, Greece, to leave some peace-loving Greek vibes on Adelaide. And here’s the coolest part — the murals contain hints of Greek mythology, which I’ll reveal soon enough. Here’s a hint: think Apollo!
So, I headed over to the murals painted by Skitsofrenis, located on the EQUALS International Building at 95 Currie Street, right in the heart of Adelaide, running parallel to the more well-known Hindley Street. Incredibly, once I saw the murals up close and spent some time there, I managed to uncover the secret Greek mythology connections.
The murals are a collaboration between the artist and EQUALS founders Katina and Jeffrey Jones. They met Costas in Greece and decided to bring a touch of Greek magic to Adelaide. Now, Adelaide and Kalamata are connected through street art, Greek gods, and a whole lot of talent — pretty cool, right?
The first thing you’ll notice is Skitsofrenis’s mural of a woman embracing the world. A staircase with students walking up it leads to the tree of knowledge — or so I’m guessing. She’s also depicted wearing four rings, each inscribed with a single word: Equality, Coexistence, Unity, and Diversity. So yeah, Skitsofrenis has created a mural that embraces spirituality. But how does this relate to Greek mythology? Patience, my friend…
Skitsofrenis Mural in Adelaide: Exploring Greek Mythology Connections

If you stroll down Bloor Court, the side street of the EQUALS Building where the woman embracing the world mural is located, you’ll discover another cool mural by Skitsofrenis — this one featuring the faces of a diverse range of international students.
At the back of the EQUALS International Building at 95 Currie Street, you’ll find another mural by Skitsofrenis — giant hands praying to Greek god Apollo. Wondering why Apollo and not Zeus? Well, the answer’s coming…
On the ground corner at the back of the building, there’s another mural of an Asian girl, closely connected to the larger mural of the international students — just around the corner, right next to it.
So, how do Skitsofrenis’s murals connect to Greek mythology, especially Apollo? Well, check out the building next door at 97 Currie Street — it’s Selene Spa and Wellness. In Roman mythology, Selene is the goddess of the moon, which is actually Artemis in Greek mythology. And guess who her twin brother is? Yep, it’s Apollo himself.
The praying hands in the mural at the back of the EQUALS building? They’re actually praying to Apollo, especially since the sun is also depicted. Remember, Apollo is the god of light and the sun. So, that’s how Skitsofrenis’s murals in Adelaide carry this really cool Greek mythology vibe. But whether Costas Louzis (aka Skitsofrenis) is aware of all this? That’s anyone’s guess.
Top Murals in Adelaide: Uncover the City’s Street Art Scene
While you’re checking out Skitsofrenis’s street art, another mural across the street also caught my eye — you can’t miss it, as long as it stays on Kingston Street. It’s a wild, angry graffiti monkey. Not sure why he’s so mad, but maybe he’s just there to shake things up and balance out the peaceful, serene vibes from Skitsofrenis’s goddess mural.
