Sylvester Stallone Comic: Rocky Balboa VS Apollo Creed

This comic dives into aa amusing debate: Did the mighty Olympian god Apollo actually have a hand in catapulting Sylvester Stallone to fame?

You see, Stallone’s big break came with Rocky, which hit theaters in December 1976 and ended up being the top-grossing film of that year — raking in about $225 million worldwide. Not too bad, right? But let’s dig a little deeper: could it be that divine intervention from Apollo himself helped Sly score that victory?

In Rocky, the world’s top boxer, Apollo Creed, gives Stallone’s character, the Italian Stallion, a shot at the World Heavyweight title. Now, do you know what “Creed” means? It’s basically a fancy word for a system of beliefs — like a faith. But in this movie, it’s all about Apollo, the Greek god of arts, music, and all things creative. Coincidence? Or are we onto something?

Perhaps Apollo, the master of Hollywood’s inner circles, was secretly pulling strings behind the scenes to catapult Stallone into superstardom as the king of the silver screen — something like my John Travolta comic. Or perhaps it’s just a funny coincidence. Either way, this Sylvester Stallone/Rocky Balboa comic playfully suggests that Sylvester Stallone and Apollo — the Greek god — are more connected than you might think. Could Apollo himself have been disguised as Apollo Creed all along? Was Carl Weathers, who played Apollo Creed, the Olympian god, down to Earth for some fun? Let’s face it: never underestimate the powers of Apollo.
